The Hillsboro High School Choir is a performance group. In this class, students are required to participate in scheduled performances given by the director. By performing, students gain experience and appreciation for proper vocal techniques, concert etiquette, and different genres of vocal music. Choir students will attend functions outside of school that will provide opportunities to grow as musicians, such as I.M.E.A., The Greenville College High School Festival, Solo and Ensemble Competition, and Organizational Contest. Class time will consist of vocal warm-ups, sight singing exercises, and rehearsal of music. Concert students will also study the symbols, terminology, and notation of music. Additional classroom assignments will involve journaling and concert critiques. Over all students will develop an understanding and an appreciation for the art.
